Bunji Garlin’s musical style and delivery has always been scrutinised by many Trinbagonians.

However, his music, which transitions well across different genres, has been accepted all over the world by many people including those who are not predominantly members of the Soca fan base.

On Saturday April 22, Garlin broke yet another boundary for himself, as well as Soca music, when he performed on stage at the inaugural Kaya Fest, which was held at the Bayfront Park Amphitheater in Miami.

Bunji Garlin issues "Defend the women" challenge

Soca/Freestyle King Ian "Bunji Garlin" Alvarez sent out a "Defend the Women" challenge to all men in T&T.

In a three minute thirty-five-second video sent via social media, Alvarez said that T&T's women are under pressure and endure serious problems.

Garlin said most men hide behind social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter to "bad up women" but instead those same men need to man up and defend them.

Strong hint that soca's big feud is coming to an end

Soca stars Ian "Bunji Garlin" Alvarez and Machel Montano have both dropped a hint of a possible collaboration this year, bringing to an end to years of feud between the country's two biggest soca artistes.

Both Montano and Garlin posted a similar image to their respective Instagram pages, with the logos that represent the both camps - a double-M sign in the case of Machel and a Viking symbol in the case of Bunji Garlin.

Neither men explained what the posts meant, but hundreds have already begun commenting on the likelihood of a unity of forces.

Celebrity prankster Trevor "Queenzflip" Robinson says neither Fay Ann Lyons-Alvarez knew about the prank he attempted to play on her when he turned up in the couple's hotel bathroom.

It comes amid speculation that the video showing a fight between Queenzflip and Fay Ann's husband Ian "Bunji Garlin" Alvarez, was all a publicity stunt.

Bunji fights with US entertainer over prank gone wrong

A video has been posted to the Instagram account of Soca artiste Ian "Bunji Garlin" Alvarez, showing him getting into a fight with US entertainer Trevor "Queenzflip" Robinson who was apparently trying to pull a prank on Bunji's wife, Fay Ann Alvarez, in her hotel bathroom.

But both men are making it clear, that they have since worked things out.
