Car Theft

Calypso Fiesta patrons’ cars stolen

After enjoying the Calypso Fiesta at Skinner Park on Saturday, three patrons were left stranded after their vehicles were stolen.

The first car, belonging to La Romaine resident Roger Noor, 50, was stolen from the Skinner Park car park at Todd Street. He told police when he returned to the car park around 3 pm he could not find his $30,000 white Nissan B13.

Alicia St Louis, 44, of Fyzabad, later reported that around 6.30 pm, she parked her $40,000 white B14 at Cross Crossing near the Quik Shoppe, but when she returned around 9.30 pm her car was missing.

Two in court on car-theft charges

An Arima mechanic and a Sangre Grande labourer accused of stealing vehicles from the San Fernando district were remanded into custody yesterday to reappear before a magistrate today for bail.

Christopher Ramoutarsingh, 26, and Joel Balcon, 32, who were arrested over the weekend, appeared in the San Fernando Magistrates Court charged with a total of six charges.

They are jointly charged with stealing a $10,000 Nissan B-12 from the car park of the San Fernando General Hospital on November 16, 2016 and a $85,000 Nissan E-24 van from Gulf City Mall car park.
