Process started for election of new Carib Queen

The Santa Rosa First Peoples Community has launched the process for electing a new queen, following the sudden passing of the late queen Jennifer Cassar.

A statement by the First Peoples Community says that according to tradition, now that the 40-day period following the death of the late queen has passed, nominations are open for persons to be considered for the Office of Queen of the Community.

It says that on Sunday, nomination forms were distributed to members present at the monthly meeting of the community.

PM issues tribute to late Carib Queen

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has issued condolences on the passing of Carib Queen Jennifer Cassar who died Thursday night.

The Office of the Prime Minister issued the following statement on behalf of the prime minister.

"On behalf of the Government and people of Trinidad and Tobago, I wish to extend condolences to the family of Santa Rosa Queen, Jennifer Cassar and the Santa Rosa First Peoples Community on the passing of the beloved stalwart.
