A Marabella man who deliberately scorched the hand of his three-year-old son and beat him with a ruler for not writing the letter B has been charged by police.
The 33-year-old man was charged by WPC Nicole St John of the Child Protection Unit.
He was arrested on Thursday morning and charged with assaulting a three-year-old child in a manner to cause physical and emotional suffering.
The charges were laid under the Children’s Act.
The court heard that in December 2018 on a date unknown, he placed the child’s hand over an open flame.
Four men, who were arrested and charged by officers of the Central Division, 30 minutes after allegedly committing a robbery at Couva pharmacy, are scheduled to appear before the Couva Magistrates’ Court today.
