Coast Guard makes $18 million cocaine bust

The Coast Guard has seized cocaine valued at $18 million dollars in a bust following a routine exercise.

The bust was made early Thursday morning aboard a pirogue.

The following is a statement by the Coast Guard:

"On Thursday 25th May 2017 at approximately 3:30 am a Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard interceptor, while on routine patrol intercepted a twenty-four ft white pirogue in the Gulf of Paria with three (3) occupants on board. 

Carenage man in court for allegedly attempting to board Barbados flight with cocaine worth $1.9 million

A Carenage man has appeared before an Arima Magistrate, charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, after he attempted to board a flight to Barbados, with the drug concealed in his luggage.

Marlon John, 40, a promoter, of Upper L’anse Mitan Road, Carenage, was at the Piarco International Airport around 5:10 pm on Saturday 20th May, 2017, preparing to board a flight to Barbados, when he was stopped at a security checkpoint.

The suspect’s luggage was checked and two packages containing 4.18 kilogrammes of cocaine were allegedly found concealed inside.

Two charged with cocaine, marijuana, gun possession

Two men are due to appear in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court, charged with narcotics possession, after being arrested during anti-crime exercises in the Western Division over the weekend.

One pistol and magazine were also found during the exercises, which were conducted by officers of the Western Division Task Force, between 11 am on Saturday 20th May, 2017 and 1 am on Sunday 21st May, 2017.

Two men held with estimated $18 million in cocaine in Arouca

Police have arrested two men in Arouca with an estimated $18 million worth of cocaine.

The information on the arrest is still not clear but reports indicate that they were held at a house on Davis Street, Arouca this morning.

The cocaine is said to have weighed 13 kilogrammes.

One of the men held is said to have been charged in September 2009 with the possession of 20 kilogrammes of marijuana.

Nurse held with over $1 million in cocaine attempting to board flight for Barbados

A geriatric nurse pleaded not guilty to a charge of cocaine trafficking, when she appeared before an Arima Magistrate, after allegedly attempting to board a flight to Barbados, with cocaine concealed in her luggage.

Natasha Wilkie, 38, of Hitler Street, Trou Macaque, Laventille, was at the Piarco International Airport, around 7:30am on Friday 21st April, 2017, preparing to board flight BW415, destined for Barbados, when she was stopped and interviewed at a security checkpoint.

Cocaine, marijuana, guns seized in San Fernando

Two guns and quantities of cocaine and marijuana, worth over $100,000 in total, have been seized in San Fernando, police said in a statement today.

The statement said that around 3:30 pm on Thursday 20th April, 2017, officers of the San Fernando CID, conducted searches of several boats and abandoned shacks along King’s Wharf, San Fernando.

There, they discovered two Taurus pistols hidden under the wooden floor of a shack.

One of the pistols was fitted with a magazine, containing six rounds of .9mm ammunition.

$15.3 million cocaine bust in La Romaine

An anti-crime exercise in the Southern Division, has resulted in the seizure of $15.3 million worth in cocaine and the arrest of four men, including a Colombian national.

Officers of the San Fernando Task Force, CID and Transnational Organised Crime Unit, conducted the exercise, coordinated by Snr Supt (Ag.), Zamsheed Mohammed, between 12 noon and 10 pm, on Tuesday 11th April, 2017, in the La Romaine area.

TT, US Coast Guards seize US$125 million in cocaine

The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard and the US Coast Guard have worked together to seize 4.2 tonnes of cocaine worth US$125 million off the coast of Suriname.

The Coast Guard issued this statement today.

"The Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard in pursuit of its strategic operational mandates is committed to collaborating with local, regional and international counterparts to thwart all illegal activities in the nation’s maritime domain.

Guyanese man held with cocaine at JFK airport

A Guyanese national has been arrested on arrival at the John F Kennedy International Airport with the authorities indicating that cocaine had been found in shoes in his luggage, a report by the Caribbean Media Corporation said.

The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency said that Amaziah Hohenkirk “tried to walk past US Customs and Border Protection officers, but was stopped in his tracks.”

T&T woman arrested in drug bust in St Kitts

St Kitts police have arrested a woman from Trinidad and Tobago in a cocaine bust at a Basseterre guesthouse.

According to reports, the arrest was made in a joint operation by the Anti-Drug Unit, the Special Services Unit (SSU) and Her Majesty's Customs and Excise Department.

The bust netted one kilo of cocaine on Tuesday.

The T&T national, whose name has not as yet been released, is said to have recently travelled to St Kitts.

The woman was at the guesthouse at the time when the bust was made.
