Doubles vendor Dharoop Jagessar was chopped to death on Tuesday morning at his doubles shed at Chase Village, Chaguanas.
According to a police report, at about 4.30 am a man confronted Jagessar inside his business place, Central Doubles Factory, and dealt him several chops about the body. The 66-year-old businessman died on the scene.
A Sangre Grande doubles vendor is now warded at hospital in a critical condition, after being attacked by four men.
Police said around 5:15 am on Sunday, Avinash Singh was selling doubles at the open shops at the corner of the Cunapo Southern Main Road and Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, when four men arrived to purchase doubles.
The men ordered doubles, however, while Singh was attending to other customers.
An argument soon broke out between him and the four men who eventually stormed the man's booth and began beating him.
