Man transports 5.3 kilos ganja on T&T Spirit

A 60-year-old Co­corite man is sched­uled to ap­pear in the Scar­bor­ough Mag­is­trates’ Court Fri­day charged with the pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing af­ter he was al­leged­ly caught on the in­ter-is­land fer­ry with the drugs.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice re­ports, around 8 pm on Thurs­day W/Sgt George and oth­er mem­bers of the To­ba­go Task Force and the Scar­bor­ough CID re­ceived in­for­ma­tion on the pos­si­ble trans­porta­tion of nar­cotics on the in­ter-is­land fer­ry.

Westmoorings drug accused seeks bail

The par­ents of Krys­tiana Sankar will try again to­day to get her out of jail af­ter her at­tor­ney, Lar­ry Williams, suc­cess­ful­ly filed an ap­pli­ca­tion to have the terms of her bail ad­just­ed.

Sankar, 24 and Yan­nis Peb­bles Au­gus­tine were each grant­ed bail to the sum $6 mil­lion on Mon­day af­ter they ap­peared in court joint­ly charged with pos­ses­sion of mar­i­jua­na and co­caine for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing along­side Aru­ba Eligon and Jer­von Cole.

12 prison officers held with contraband this year

Twelve pris­ons of­fi­cers are among 21 peo­ple who have been ar­rest­ed so far this year for at­tempt­ing to smug­gle in con­tra­band items in­to the na­tion’s pris­ons.

The lat­est ar­rest came on Wednes­day when a Prison Of­fi­cer I with five years' ser­vice was ar­rest­ed at the Gold­en Grove Re­mand Yard try­ing to smug­gle in over 400 hand­made cig­a­rettes, three cell­phones with sim cards and a quan­ti­ty of mar­i­jua­na. The ar­rest was made at about 3.30 pm by spe­cial of­fi­cers as­signed to the Op­er­a­tions Unit.

Police seize 2 duffel bags filled with marijuana near old Piarco Airport

Packaged marijuana, with an estimated street value of TT$110,000 was found by North Division Task Force (NDTF) officers on mobile patrol in Piarco, last night.

According to police reports,  acting on information received, the officers attached to the NDTF Area Central headed to a bushy area on the outskirts of the old Piarco International Airport, where they found two duffle-bags filled with 32 packets containing marijuana. 

The drug weighs approximately 11 kilogrammes. PC Elliott, of NDTF Area Central, will be leading enquiries into the matter. 

Four charged in Westmoorings drug bust

Four of the five peo­ple ar­rest­ed in con­nec­tion with a $15 m drug bust in the up­scale res­i­den­tial dis­trict of West­moor­ings on Tues­day will be charged for pos­ses­sion of il­le­gal drugs with the in­tent to traf­fick.

Krys­tiana Sankar, the for­mer step-daugh­ter of Na­tion­al Se­cu­ri­ty Min­is­ter Stu­art Young, will face ad­di­tion­al charges of pos­ses­sion of a loaded .38 re­volver which was re­cov­ered from a safe in her bed­room at the Re­gents Gar­dens apart­ment.

Man nabbed smuggling weed into jail in apples

It seems fruits are now the pre­ferred choice to have smug­gle con­tra­band items in­to the na­tion’s pris­ons.

On Wednes­day, a 22-year-old Kel­ly Vil­lage, Ca­roni man was ar­rest­ed by prison of­fi­cers at the Max­i­mum Se­cu­ri­ty Prison in Arou­ca at­tempt­ing to smug­gle in four ap­ples stuffed with pack­ets of mar­i­jua­na with a to­tal weight of weigh­ing 88 grams.

Accused held in weekend's drug & ammunition bust appears in court

A Cunupia businessman who has been charged in connection with the seizure of large quantities of drug and weapons during an anti-crime operation, appeared before a Chaguanas Magistrate today.

Jerome Olliverre, 28, a businessman of Macaya Trace, Monroe Road, Cunupia, was charged with two counts of possession of dangerous drugs for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of firearms and one count of possession of ammunition, when he appeared before Chaguanas Magistrate Brian Debideen.
