Police have discovered $2 million worth of marijuana trees at a camp in the St. Joseph district.
The weed was destroyed by officers of the St. Joseph Police Station, during a marijuana eradication exercise conducted over the weekend.
The exercise, coordinated by ACP (Ag.) McDonald Jacob and spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Michael Daniel, took place between 4 am and 10 pm, on Friday 31st August, 2018, also included officers attached to the St. Joseph Crime Patrol and Criminal Investigations Department.
Local police are teaming up with authorities in Vietnam after US$35m worth in cocaine was found aboard a ship which left this country about two months ago.
Quantities of cocaine, marijuana and ammunition have been found by officers of the Southern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Ste. Madeleine district.
The exercise, supervised by Sgt. Vishal Parasram, took place between 10:00pm on Monday 16th July, 2018, and 3:00am on Tuesday 17th July, 2018.

An El Socorro man, is denied bail and remanded into custody after appearing before a Siparia Magistrate, charged with possession of three firearms and a quantity of ammunition as well as marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Two Point Fortin men are expected to appear before a San Fernando Magistrate today, charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Police in Mumbai, India have arrested a 46-year-old woman and her 25-year-old daughter, for smuggling cocaine worth ₹1.50 crore (TT$1.5 million).
The arrests were made by the Mumbai Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB).
The drugs were sent by courier from Trinidad and Tobago, said an NCB officer.
The woman was arrested while she was receiving the parcel – which contained 360 grams of cocaine – at Nagpur.
“The drug was concealed inside eyeshadow palette boxes,” said a senior NCB officer.
Two men are now in police custody, after officers of the San Fernando Police Station, found a large quantity of marijuana and cocaine along with three firearms, at the scene of a vehicular accident which the suspects were involved in.
