Three arrested with shotgun, ammunition and weed

Three men were arrested and a shotgun and quantities of ammunition and marijuana seized by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the Arima district early this morning.

The exercise, coordinated by ACP (Ag.), McDonald Jacob, spearheaded by Snr. Supt. (Ag.), Michael Daniel and including officers of the St. Joseph CID, was conducted between 12:01 am and 3 am, on Thursday 5th April, 2018.

Sales clerk charged in $360,000 Cabo Star drug bust

A Mason Hall man, who is alleged to have transported $360,000 worth of marijuana from Trinidad to Tobago aboard the Cabo Star on Monday, is expected to appear before a Scarborough Magistrate today, charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

Rodney Rooplal, 36, a sales clerk of Sandy River, Mason Hall, was arrested by officers of the Scarborough CID, at the Scarborough Port, around 8:30 pm on Monday, after disembarking the ferry.

Illegal drugs found during off-loading of Cabo Star

Illegal drugs being off-loaded from the Cabo Star vessel have been seized by police and a man has been charged with trafficking.

The discovery was made around 8.30 last evening after the cargo vessel docked at Scarborough in Tobago.

Reports are that a panel van coming off the Cabo Star from Trinidad was searched by police officers of the Scarborough CID and Tobago Task Force. 

Officers found a total of 6 kilogrammes of marijuana wrapped in 10 individual packets.

The illegal substance is said to be valued at over $350,000.

Million-dollar drug find in mall carpark

Police recovered over a million dollars worth of cocaine and marijuana concealed in a car which had been left unattended at the Price Plaza, Chaguanas carpark.

Police moved in on the vehicle after waiting for hours for someone to turn up.

Officers under the command of Snr Supt Inraj Balram of the Central Division found 14 packages of marijuana worth $200,000 as well as one package and 50 styrotex containers in crocus bags containing cocaine in the back seat of a white Nissan B-14 sedan on Sunday.

The cocaine had a street value of over $1 million.

Matura man charged with drug trafficking

A Matura man is expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate, charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of ammunition, after he was arrested by officers of the Sangre Grande Task Force yesterday.

Kevin Matthews, 31, a taxi driver, of Toco Main Road, Matura, was charged, after the white Nissan Versa motor vehicle he was driving was stopped and searched along the Toco Main Road, around 11:30 am on Wednesday.

Police destroy $80,000 in marijuana trees

Police have destroyed several fully grown marijuana trees in Rio Claro, with an estimated street value of $80,000.

A homemade shotgun and a trap gun were discovered during the exercise on Sunday.

The exercise, which included officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit, was conducted between 9 am and 11:30 am, during which the officers proceeded to Moonan Trace, Rio Claro.

There, they ventured approximately ¼ mile into a forested area, where they came upon a marijuana field with approximately 80 fully grown marijuana trees.

Two arrested during police exercise in Santa Flora

Police officers attached to the Santa Flora police station arrested two men during an anti-crime exercise yesterday.

The suspects, aged 25 and 29, from Moruga and La Romaine respectively were held when the vehicle they were travelling in was intercepted by officers.

The officers then searched the vehicle and a quantity of marijuana valued at an estimated  $30,000 was discovered in a purple laptop bag.




Two charged in $6.25 million marijuana bust

Two men are expected to appear before a Siparia Magistrate tomorrow, charged with possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, following the seizure of TT$6.25Mn in marijuana; the largest narcotics haul for 2018, thus far.

Kevon Theodore Saitoo, 36, a watchman, of Partap Trace, South Oropouche and Dawuud Hood, 36, a labourer, of Reid Lane, Belmont, were charged by PC Sholto Sookram, of Erin Police Station, on Wednesday 7th February, 2018.

Two arrested as police find 25 crocus bags of compressed marijuana

Two men suspected of transporting thousands of dollars' worth of marijuana out of Erin were arrested this morning.

The two suspects, both aged 35, of Oropouche and Port of Spain, were detained in the vehicle which allegedly contained the narcotics.

At around 7.30 a.m. officers of the Santa Flora and Erin CIDs received information and intercepted the vehicle at SS Erin Road.

During a search they allegedly found 25 crocus bags filled with the compressed marijuana.

Police say the marijuana was destined to be consumed for the Carnival.
