The shocking video of a Freeport family being trampled upon, kicked and cuffed by robbers during a birthday lime has prompted calls for more surveillance in the area.
Residents said drug dens were cropping up in the once quiet community and they were afraid to share information.
At least every business place in the Arena Village has been hit by robbers over the past year. Even the Faith Assemblies Church has been burgled and police informants have been gunned down.
Two Freeport families are appealing for the public's help in finding three men who were abducted on Sunday outside their homes.
According to reports, Shazard Hosein, 29, Aaron Roopnarine, 19 and his brother Sunil Roopnarine, 23 were at a parlour in Uquire Road, Freeport when a car and a van pulled up around 4 pm.
Two men armed with guns got out of the car and ran into the parlour, demanding the shopkeeper hand over cigarettes and money.
Twenty-year-old Balgobin Doodnath has been charged with the murder of Dalroop Jagessar and is due to appear before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court, today, to answer to the charge.
Doodnath, a Guyanese immigrant residing in Chase Village, Freeport, was charged with murder, following advice received from Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore Paul, 22nd February.
According to police reports, On February 18th Mr Jagessar, a 66-year-old factory owner also of Chase Village, was at his home where got into an altercation with the accused.
One man was arrested and a pistol and a quantity of marijuana seized by officers of the Freeport Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the district yesterday.
Officers were mobile patrol around 5pm, on Monday 11th February, 2019, at St. Mary’s junction, when they had cause to stop and search a 28- year-old Freeport man.
The search resulted in officers discovering one Ruger long rifle automatic pistol and a quantity of marijuana in his possession.
The man was subsequently arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
A Freeport man is expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate on Wednesday 23rd May, 2018, charged with possession of four firearms and a quantity of ammunition, after being arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Freeport district, yesterday.
Devon Guevara, 36, of La Cuesa Road, Freeport, was arrested by officers of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF), after a search warrant was executed at his home.
The exercise, supervised by ASP Brandon John, of the IATF, took place between 5 am and 5 pm, on Sunday 20th May, 2018.

A man has been fined, and faces imprisonment on default, after pleading guilty to a charge of stealing electricity from the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC).
Imraz Mohammed, of Tewarie Circular South, Arena Road, Freeport, was sentenced in the Chaguanas 1st Magistrates Court on Thursday May 17, where he appeared before Magistrate Jo-Anne Connor.
Mohammed was fined $2,000 and was given 14 days to pay or, in default, four months imprisonment with hard labour.
A Freeport woman is expected to appear before a Chaguanas Magistrate, charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition.
The woman was charged by officers of the Central Division Task Force (CDTF), during an anti-crime exercise in the Freeport district, yesterday.
The exercise which took place between 10 pm on Monday 9th April, 2018, and 3 am on Tuesday 10th April, 2018, was supervised by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Inraj Balram and ASP (Ag.) Richard Smith and included officers of the CDTF.
Police are investigating the death of Freeport resident Latchmi Persad.
According to reports, a 35-year-old man who knew Persad went to the Couva Police Station on Saturday and told officers he had strangled Persad, 42, of Ramsamooj Avenue, Chickland, on Friday.
Police visited the house around 2 pm and broke down the door to find Persad’s body in the bedroom. Persad worked at a nearby mini mart and lived alone, as her mother died last year.
