A 52-year-old Charlieville man is due to appear before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court after being arrested and charged for possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Deodath Balkaransingh aka ‘Sarram’, a labourer of the Chaguanas Borough Corporation, was arrested during an exercise conducted by officers of the Northern Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF) on Monday.
During the exercise, NEDTF officers along with members of the Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home in East Charlieville.
A quantity of marijuana and one shotgun were discovered by officers of the South Western Division Task Force Area West, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Cedros district, yesterday.
The exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. Deonarine Basdeo and W/Snr. Supt. Sharon Gomez-Cooper and including officers of the South Western Division Emergency Response Patrol Unit, was conducted between 8 am and 4 pm, on Wednesday 20th February, 2019.
Police have seized a pistol and eight rounds of ammunition in Arima.
According to reports, around 5 am today, officers of the Northern Division Task Force Area East spearheaded by Sgt Mascall, Cpl Gentle, P.C. Brewster, Wpc Caruth and P.C. Richards together with K9 officers executed a search warrant at an estate property at L’Orange Road Heights of Aripo Road Arima where a pistol along with eight (8) rounds of 9mm ammunition was found and seized.
One man was arrested and a firearm and a quantity of ammunition seized, by officers of the Central Division’s Emergency Response Patrol and Central Division Operations Unit, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Carapichaima district, last night.
During the exercise, officers proceeded to a bar located at Orange Field Road, around 9 pm, on Monday 11th February, 2019, where they conducted a search of the premises and bar patrons.
After nothing illegal was discovered most of the officers left the scene.
One man was arrested and a pistol and a quantity of marijuana seized by officers of the Freeport Police Station, during an anti-crime exercise, conducted in the district yesterday.
Officers were mobile patrol around 5pm, on Monday 11th February, 2019, at St. Mary’s junction, when they had cause to stop and search a 28- year-old Freeport man.
The search resulted in officers discovering one Ruger long rifle automatic pistol and a quantity of marijuana in his possession.
The man was subsequently arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
A 27-year-old woman was arrested by police, after officers found a gun hidden in a patch of fever grass in her yard.
The suspect of Valencia was taken into custody after officers executed a search warrant at her home on Tuesday.
During the exercise, officers of the Cumuto Police Station found a Smith and Wesson firearm loaded with five rounds of ammunition in a patch of fever grass growing on her property.
The suspect was then taken to the Cumuto Police Station for possession of a firearm and ammunition.
Acting Corporal Gordon is continuing investigations.
One revolver and quantities of ammunition and marijuana were discovered by officers of the Central Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Chaguanas district last night.

The suspect was arrested during an anti-crime exercise in the Piarco on November 26th.
According to police reports during the exercise, supervised by Sgt. Pitt, officers observed a man walking along Oropune Boulevard, Piarco.
Upon noticing the officers, the man began running and threw an object resembling a firearm into some nearby bushes.
