T&T's stickmen finished tenth at the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup on Saturday morning after Losing 3-2 to Russia in their final game.
Within the first ten minutes, the Russians rushed out front with a 2-0 lead. First, in the sixth minute, Dmitriy Kuraev scored then four minutes later, Pavel Golubev doubled the lead.
In the 20th minute, Jordan Vieira pulled a goal back for the local boys, before Akim Toussaint leveled the scores in the 33rd minute.
T&T's hockey men were given a rude awakening in their opening Indoor World Cup match against the Czech Republic on Wednesday morning, losing 7-2.
Within the first ten minutes of the game, T&T found itself 4-0 down. Jakub Kyndl opened the scoring in the third minute while David Vacek doubled the lead a mere minute after. Two minutes later in the sixth minute, Lukas Plochy made it 3-0 to the Czechs.
T&T's men's hockey team was edged out 5-4 to Russia on Tuesday in their final warm-up match before their World Cup opener against the Czech Repubic on Wednesday in Berlin.
The defeat will not, or at least should not, affect the morale in the T&T camp, because this Russia team is ranked number four in the world.
The local boys gave one of the World Cup favourites a run for its money with goals from Akim Toussaint, Jordan Vieira, Mickell Pierre, and Shaquille Daniel.
