In the wake of the Police Service officially closing the "Emailgate" investigations, attorney Senior Counsel Israel Khan is calling on the Director of Public Prosecutions to now aim his sights on the man who brought the documents to light.
In a news conference Wednesday, Khan called upon the DPP to "request that the police set up a team of officers to investigate the now Prime Minister, the then leader of the Opposition, whether he conspired with a person unknown or a person known in order to pervert the course of public justice."
A Sangre Grande Magistrate freed a 25-year-old man on a murder charge but committed his 38-year-old uncle to stand trial at the High Court for unlawful killing.
Damien Cedeno, 25, and his uncle Rickie Bacchus, 38, of San Souci were both charged with the murder of fellow villager Anthony Hagley which allegedly occurred on 26th July, 2015 at the Surf Side Bar, Big Bay, San Souci, Toco.
Twenty-six witnesses gave evidence in the case.
Attorney Israel Khan said he plans to write to Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard to determine whether Chief Justice Ivor Archie acted improperly and whether there are grounds for him to be impeached.
This follows claims by former chief magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar that her removal as a High Court judge was “unlawful and unconstitutional” because she was put under pressure to resign.
She said so in a May 19 tell-all letter to President Anthony Carmona.
