Mother begs for justice for murdered sons

“Who kill my chil­dren?” wailed Gee­ta See­bran, 64, out­side the San Fer­nan­do High Court on Mon­day short­ly af­ter a Point Fortin man was found not guilty of the 2005 mur­ders of her two sons, Neil and Nigel See­bran.

The pros­e­cu­tion’s case was that four years af­ter the mur­ders Ka­reem Guade­loupe con­fessed to the po­lice the role he played in the mur­ders.

At his tri­al, he claimed the po­lice tricked him in­to sign­ing a con­fes­sion state­ment on the be­lief that he would be al­lowed to go home to his fam­i­ly.

Chase Village man murdered on way to first day of work

A 22-year-old Chase Village man has been found murdered in Carlsen Field on what was supposed to be his first day at work as a security officer.

The body of Ricardo Dixon of Bagna Trace, Chase Village was discovered around 6 am Thursday on Xeres Road, Carlsen Field.

The body bored several gunshot wounds.

Dixon had recently been employed with of Heller Security Limited.

Police said he left home to go to work at Price Plaza, Chaguanas.

He left on foot to catch a taxi.

Police are yet to establish a motive for the man's murder.

'Bean' murdered on Cockerton Street

Police are investigating the murder of a man on Cockerton Street in Port-of-Spain Wednesday morning.

The victim has been identified as Shawn Raymond who also goes by the name 'Bean' of Nelson Street.

He was shot at approximately 10.45 am this morning.

Police officers who responded rushed Raymond to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he died.

Cockerton Street is a short street that separates George and Nelson streets.

Police were not immediately clear on the motive for the killing.


Second man charged with estate constable's murder

A 26-year-old Arouca man is the second person to be charged with the murder of Cleavon Frederick.

Hilton George was charged with murder and assault with intent to rob, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard, SC, on Thursday 6th June, 2019.

Frederick, 44, an estate constable, of Ninth Avenue North, Barataria, was at his place of work, Boundary Liquour Mart, San Juan, on Wednesday 23rd January, 2019, when three men armed with guns entered and announced a robbery.

27-year-old man shot dead in Carenage

A 27-year-old man has been shot dead in Carenage, taking the murder toll to 223  for the year.

The deceased has been identified as David "Mango" Roberts.

According to a police report, Roberts was standing along Haig Street shortly after 5 am Friday when he was shot several times by gunmen.

He died on the scene.

Speaking with the Guardian Media Friday, concerned residents said the gang warfare in the area continues and have again called for increased police patrols in the area.

PH taxi driver body found in ravine

Police are investigating the murder of a PH taxi driver whose decomposing body was found in a ravine in Chaguanas on Sunday night.

Ru Seecharan, 41 of Mc Bean Village, Couva was last seen by relatives on Friday.

Reports stated that around 10 pm, a passerby spotted the body in the ravine along the Connector Road in Carlsen Field and contacted police.

Chaguanas police and a team of detectives from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three, led by Sgt Elvin, responded and found Seecharan lying face down in the water with his pants pulled below his waist.

Chaguanas man appears in court charged with murder

Dane Julien a 19-year-old Charlieville man has appeared before the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court, after being charged with the murder of Ganchan Diaz, which occurred in March 2019.

Julien stood before Senior Magistrate Rajendra Rambhacan in the Chaguanas 1st Magistrates’ Court, on May 23rd 2019, to answer to the charge.

According to police reports, on March 10th, 23-year-old Diaz, a labourer of Charlieville, was walking along Assaraf Road, East Charlieville, with a friend when he was accosted by a man known to him.

Double-murder in San Juan

Just less than one month after he was allegedly involved in a shooting in Malick, Nicholas ‘Chico’ Jobe, 35, was gunned down on Thursday morning in San Juan along with another man.

Jobe lived at Sixth Avenue, Malick and the other victim, Akil Alexander, 24, was from Upper Seventh Avenue Malick.

According to a police report, at about 12.05 am police officers who were on mobile patrol in the area responded to an area at Second Street where they found both men lying on the ground metres apart from each other.

Police said they were both shot multiple times.

Cunupia man held for 2017 murder

A 21-year-old man has been charged with the 2017 murder of Stephen Smith.

Isaac Williams of Cunupia was charged following advice received from Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul.

On Sunday 19th November, 2017, Smith got into an altercation with Williams at a house along Upper St. Barb’s Road, Laventille.

Smith, then left the house and upon his return was shot multiple times about the body.

Officers on mobile patrol in the area responded to the sound of gunshots and found Smith lying in the street.
