HDC: Evicted Oropune tenant breached rules

There are a num­ber of breach­es at the Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion's Orop­une Gar­dens de­vel­op­ment in Pi­ar­co, hence the evic­tion of a ten­ant who was op­er­at­ing a hard­ware and com­mer­cial shop there ear­ly Wednes­day.

In a re­lease, HDC Man­ag­ing Di­rec­tor Brent Lyons said it was dur­ing a vis­it there with ex­ec­u­tives on Sat­ur­day that they saw and con­firmed the ex­is­tence of re­port­ed home­own­er in­frac­tions and breach­es and de­cid­ed to act on them im­me­di­ate­ly.

Residents tell police, HDC: Get rid of Oropune criminals

On the heels of the sec­ond mur­der with­in the last month at Orop­une Gar­dens, res­i­dents of the area are up in arms over the in­crease in gun vi­o­lence in the area and oth­er il­le­gal ac­tiv­i­ties.

They are call­ing for an im­me­di­ate in­ter­ven­tion by of­fi­cials at the Hous­ing De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion and the po­lice.

Oropune residents remorseful over vigilante beating & death

Oropune residents are now said to be showing genuine regret, remorse and sadness for the man they badly beat last week, after they claimed he attempted to lure a five-year-old girl away from a nearby playground.

Victim Ashdale Mc Hutchinson, 49, died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, Mt Hope, at about 11 am on Sunday.

Oropune residents attack suspected paedophile

A suspected paedophile remains warded in a critical condition at hospital, after being attacked by residents of Oropune Gardens in an alleged case of vigilante justice.

According to reports, around 9 pm Wednesday officers of the Arouca Police Station received a report of a wounded man lying on a road in the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) community in Piarco.

Police arrived on the scene shortly after and the man was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope for treatment.
