The country's murder count continues to climb. this after a 28-year-old Cocorite man was shot and killed by men dressed as Police Officers.
Police say around three this morning Curtis Franklyn, of Ratchet Hill, Waterhole, was asleep at his home when two men dressed in camouflage gear claiming to be Police Officers entered his home. Franklyn tried to escape through a rear door but was shot several times. Officers from the St James Police Station responded and found Franklyn lying on the ground outside. He was taken to hospital where he died.
A Barrackpore man is expected to appear before a Princes Town Magistrate today, charged with two counts of assaulting two police officers, during the conduct of their duties on Saturday 21st April, 2018.
Christopher Bocas, 29, of Rochard Douglas Road, Barrackpore, was arrested after officers responded to a report of a disturbance at Blue Legacy Bar, also of Rochard Douglas Road, Barrackpore, around 10:45 pm, on Saturday 21st April, 2018.
Dozens of women police officers will be leading a march through the capital city today.
The lunch-time procession commemorates International Women’s Day observed on March 8th every year.
According to the network of Non-Government Organisations, this year’s theme focuses on rural women and girls.
According to a statement from the network, this year’s march comes at a time of unprecedented global movement for women and girls’ rights, gender equality and justice, sexual harassment, gender-based violence and discrimination.
Five officers attached to the Port of Spain Division have been identified as being part of the gang that robbed a Claxton Bay businessman.
The five other officers have been identified based on information from the SRP who confessed the crime on Friday.
The six are accused of robbing a Chinese businessman of over 400 thousand dollars in cash and valuables.
The officers reportedly robbed the businessman after claiming they were executing a search warrant at the man’s home.
Four people, including two police officers, are in police custody after they allegedly attacked a young Springvale couple, beating a woman unconscious and almost severing her companion’s wrist.
The T&T Guardian understands one of the suspects is a police corporal attached to the Central Division. He is said to have over 30 years of service.
Another of the suspect is a police constable attached to the Princes Town Police Station with two years service. The corporal’s wife and her brother are also in custody.

The shootings occurred around 7.20 Thursday evening.
Police say the officers were on an exercise when the shooting occurred.
A male officer identified only as Moreno was shot in his head while a female officer identified as WPC George has been shot in her foot.
