Education Minister Anthony Garcia is welcoming the call for a better education system as suggested by President Paula-Mae Weekes during the President’s Medal Award Ceremony 2018 Tuesday at NAPA.
President Paula-Mae Weekes is heading to Tobago for five days near the end of January 2019 is has opened her office to meet citizens there and is accepting invitations for that period.
A statement from the Office of the President on Thursday said her decision to be stationed in Tobago for five days is "in keeping with her commitment to serve all of Trinidad and Tobago."
Weekes, a former Appeal Court judge, who was elected to the nation's highest office, in March intends to periodically execute her duties from Tobago, the release said.

In a statement yesterday, Weekes said while the word is often overused and incorrectly used, Shadow, 77, who died at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex after ailing for some time, was indeed worthy of the title icon. She offered condolences to Shadow’s family and friends on his passing.

After being sworn in, President Sahle-Work promised to work hard to make gender equality a reality in Ethiopia.
President Paula-Mae Weekes has called on law-abiding Muslims to remain steadfast in their faith despite the attack on their religion by criminals who call themselves Muslims.
In her Eid message yesterday, Weekes extended solidarity to "true Muslims" saying Islam has been distorted by those seeking violence and discord.
"It is alarming to observe the distortion of the message of Islam practiced by some in Trinidad and Tobago and around the world, who have been drawn into lifestyles of brutality and contempt for human life," she said.
