Pay your WASA bill or you'll be cut - Le Hunte

No pay, no wa­ter.

If con­sumers don't pay their wa­ter rate bill they'll be dis­con­nect­ed, says Pub­lic Util­i­ties Min­is­ter Robert Le Hunte.

Le Hunte gave this re­sponse to re­porters in Par­lia­ment yes­ter­day af­ter Unit­ed Na­tion­al Con­gress ac­tivist De­vant Ma­haraj called for peo­ple who do not get wa­ter to boy­cott pay­ing their wa­ter rate bills.

66-year-old Sangre Grande man missing

Police are seeking the urgent assistance of the public in locating 66-year-old Samdeo Ramdial.

Ramdial, of Vega de Oropouche, Sangre Grande, was last seen dropping his wife off at the Sangre Grande market at 3 am on Saturday 27th April, 2019.

He was reported missing to the Sangre Grande Police Station on Monday.

Ramdial is of East Indian descent, 5 feet 6 inches tall, slim built, with a dark brown complexion.

He was last seen wearing a green shirt and a pair of brown 3/4 pants.

WASA CEO: Brace for more restrictions

Chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of the Wa­ter and Sewage Au­thor­i­ty (WASA) Al­lan Poon King is urg­ing cus­tomers to brace them­selves for more wa­ter re­stric­tions if the dry sea­son con­tin­ues and wa­ter re­stric­tions will re­main in ef­fect.

Al­ready there are wa­ter sched­ules in parts of Trinidad and if the harsh dry sea­son con­tin­ues then Poon King said the au­thor­i­ty will be forced to sched­ule pipe borne wa­ter to two days in some ar­eas.

Poon King was speak­ing to the me­dia at a tour of the at Hol­lis Reser­voir, Va­len­cia yes­ter­day.

Another water shortage for Central Trinidad Wednesday

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is advising customers in parts of Central Trinidad served by the Caroni Water Treatment plant, that there would be an interruption in their pipe borne water supply on Wednesday 1st May 2019, between the hours of 6 am and 6 pm.

WASA says this has become necessary in order to facilitate repairs to a defective valve off the Caroni South Trunk Transmission System, located along the Caroni South Bank Road, Kelly Village.

WASA: Deficit of 30 million gallons/day due to harsh dry season

The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) is reminding the public that the ongoing harsh dry conditions have significantly impacted water production at several of the authority’s water treatment plants throughout the country, which has resulted in a deficit of approximately 30 million gallons per day in water availability for distribution.

The statement comes as residents and business owners in parts of central and south Trinidad complained publicly about how the lack of water has been impacting their lives and businesses.

Piarco rated top Caribbean airport

The Airports Authority (AATT) has announced that the Piarco International Airport has topped the region as the Best Airport in the Caribbean, as declared by the Skytrax 2019 World Airport Awards.

A statement by the AATT said that this is a significant achievement as there is a marked improvement from the 2018 ranking.

The Piarco International Airport has this year bypassed the Norman Manley International Airport in Jamaica, and the Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados, to cop first place.

PBR partially opened Easter weekend

The Ministry of Works and Transport has advised that authorization has been granted to light motor vehicles, to utilise the Priority Bus Route (PBR) from Mt Hope to Macoya, from 5 am on Friday 19th April, 2019 to 7pm on Monday 22nd April, 2019. 

This has become necessary as major construction works will be ongoing along the eastbound lanes of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway in the vicinity of Curepe Intersection, during this period.

Teen missing from children's home

The TTPS  is seeking the urgent assistance of the public in locating 14-year-old Kadie Joseph.

Kadie, was last seen at the Operation Smile Children’s Home, located at Lower Poonah, Williamsville, around 12:00 am, on April 1st.

 She was reported missing to the Gasparillo Police Station, around 3:30am, on that same date, by a caretaker at the home. 

Kadie is of African descent, 5 feet 6 inches tall and medium built with a brown complexion and short brown hair. 

She was last seen wearing a purple blouse and a pair of blue short pants.
