Trinidad-born Cana­di­an Ma­han­tji Dr Bal­li­ram Chadee has been spread­ing the mes­sage, ideals and work of Lord Hanu­man through­out the world for the past 15 years.

His spir­i­tu­al jour­ney, which took flight at the age of 40, in­spired him to es­tab­lish the first Hanu­man char­i­ty or­gan­i­sa­tion in Cana­da, the Hanu­man Mis­sion, where he has been able to reach and help thou­sands of peo­ple.

Since 2015, the av­er­age amount col­lect­ed from all the Ro­man Catholic church­es around the coun­try dur­ing Christ­mas has been $1.5 mil­lion.

Medical student destroys statues during church service

While the Palm Sunday celebrations were taking place at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Port-of-Spain yesterday, a medical student took out a pair of dumbbells and damaged the statue of St Paul and desecrated the crucifix that was supposed to be used on Good Friday.

Yesterday signalled the start of the Holy Week on the Christian calendar.

The Holy Week begins with Palm Sunday which commemorates Jesus Christ’s triumphant arrival in Jerusalem to the cheers of the crowd.
