T&T's hockey men were given a rude awakening in their opening Indoor World Cup match against the Czech Republic on Wednesday morning, losing 7-2.
Within the first ten minutes of the game, T&T found itself 4-0 down. Jakub Kyndl opened the scoring in the third minute while David Vacek doubled the lead a mere minute after. Two minutes later in the sixth minute, Lukas Plochy made it 3-0 to the Czechs.
T&T's men's hockey team was edged out 5-4 to Russia on Tuesday in their final warm-up match before their World Cup opener against the Czech Repubic on Wednesday in Berlin.
The defeat will not, or at least should not, affect the morale in the T&T camp, because this Russia team is ranked number four in the world.
The local boys gave one of the World Cup favourites a run for its money with goals from Akim Toussaint, Jordan Vieira, Mickell Pierre, and Shaquille Daniel.
T&T’s hockey men suffered their second straight loss on Wednesday evening in Holland. Taking on Den Bosch in the second warm-up match of their Dutch camp, the local lads were edged out 7-6.
That’s a significant improvement from their 7-4 loss in the first game. Jordan Vieira led the way for the local boys with a hat-trick. Also among the goal scorers for T&T were Mickell Pierre, Kristien Emmanuel and Akim Toussaint.
