Only 3 of 12 private secondary schools accept SEA students but Minister assures all's well

Education Minister, Anthony Garcia says despite the decision by some private secondary schools to not accept students until the government settles debts owed to them, all students who sat the 2018 Secondary Entrance Assessment have been placed in schools.

The Minister told today's post-Cabinet news conference that nine of the 12 private secondary schools have not accepted students this year. 

Four US students awarded scholarships to study in T&T

Quite often it's students from Trinidad and Tobago getting scholarships to study in the United States but four US students have been granted scholarships to study in Trinidad and Tobago over the summer period.

The four students are from the Albany State University, who have all been awarded the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship.

They include;

- Asia Clemmons, a junior social work major;

- Tamia Hurst, a sophomore sociology major;

- Vivia Johnson, a senior psychology major;

and Nikesia Patrick, a sophomore psychology major.

Education Minister congratulates students involved in recent clean-up efforts

Education Minister Anthony Garcia has congratulated students of the El Dorado West, Bon Air Secondary Schools and St Anthony’s College for their participation in two separate projects to protect and preserve the environment.

The El Dorado West Secondary School students, in collaboration with the RBC Young Leaders Project recently took part in the “WE Campaign” to create a nation which produces less waste and encourages the conservation of our wildlife.

Over 200 students in Arima constituency treated to 'Black Panther' movie

More than 200 students from ten primary schools in Arima, were today treated to a special viewing of the blockbuster movie, Blank Panther at the Caribbean Cinemas 8, Trincity Mall.

The viewing was an initiative of Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Arima, Anthony Garcia.

The group of Standard Five Students was selected from the Arima Girls’ Government, Arima Boys’ Government, Arima Boys’ R.C, Arima Girls’ R.C, Arima Hindu Primary, Arima Centenary Primary, Blancisseuse Government Primary, Brasso-Seco R.C, Aripo R.C and Santa Rosa Government Primary Schools.

PM's constituency treats students to 'Black Panther' show

Primary school students from the Diego Martin West constituency enjoyed a viewing of the highly-acclaimed movie Black Panther at the Digicel Imax theatre with Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley yesterday.

The Standard Five students of St Peter’s (Point Cumana) RC, Point Cumana Government, La Puerta Government, St John’s (Diego Martin) Girls RC and Diego Martin Boys RC were brimming with excitement throughout the much-anticipated outing.
