Arima businesses forced to pay $300 coward tax

The Police Service is now investigating a claim that some 27 Arima business owners and some residents were threatened by a Muslim organisation, forced to sign a document and extorted for protection or security money.

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) and the Yello Media are set to take cricket in the Caribbean into the digital age. Yello Media, a digital and print advertiser, signed a new three year partnership designed to create community support, commerce, and engagement through  cricket, a CPL media release said.

Search on for Hakka bandit

Police have mounted a search for a man who robbed Hakka restaurant on Sunday.

Shortly after 5 pm, a man entered a Hakka Express outlet located at the Shoppes of Maraval and proceeded to rob the establishment.

Footage captured by a CCTV camera shows the assailant forcing three female employees into what appears to be the kitchen area of the restaurant.

The bandit, who is met with opposition from a female staff member manages to force the women into the back room.
