The fractures around the Piparo volcano are continuing to widen while increased gaseous emissions are being recorded by geoscientists who are monitoring the volcano on a weekly basis.
In preparation for an impending eruption, all State agencies met for a planning session at the Piparo Community Centre on Thursday.

The University of the West Indies (UWI) St. Augustine Campus has announced its 2019/2020 Guild of Students Council.
The new council, led by president Justin Subero, was elected by the student body in March 2019 and officially assumed office on June 1, 2019. He succeeds Darrion Narine.
The University of the West Indies (UWI) has appointed Dr Dawn Marie De Four- Gill as the new Campus Registrar and Dr Acolla Lewis-Cameron as the new Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Dr De Four-Gill is the first woman to be appointed Campus Registrar at the St. Augustine Campus.
Within the university system, the Campus Registrar is the most senior administrator on the campus, serving as Chief Administrative Officer, Chief Operating Officer and as Secretary to all campus committees.
Police officers were called in to deal with a situation at the University of the West Indies' St Augustine campus on Wednesday after a male student pepper sprayed a female classmate following an argument over a group project.
The female student was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex (EWMSC) for treatment. She was eventually discharged.
The pepper spray incident occurred around 5 pm on Wednesday at the campus' Teaching and Learning Complex (TLC).
The University of the West Indies’ South Campus in Debe will be open from September of this year.
This was announced by UWI St Augustine Campus Principal Brian Copeland at the annual UWI St Augustine Campus Council Meeting on Tuesday.
“The campus is almost ready, you will see us opening our doors in September,” said Copeland.
He said while most people driving along the Debe highway would see unfinished buildings, the key structures were nearing completion.
