UWI: Richards made an immense contribution

The University of the West Indies has offered condolences to the family of former president George Maxwell Richards.

Richards was the principal of the university's St Augustine Campus before becoming president.

The following is UWI's statement on his passing;

"The University of the West Indies mourns the passing of the 4th President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Professor George Maxwell Richards, a scholar, a colleague, and Principal of the St. Augustine Campus from 1985 to 1996.

UWI intensifies strict 'No Thoroughfare' policy

The University of the West Indies’ St. Augustine campus says it has begun an intensified enforcement of its 'No Thoroughfare' policy.

This means that from Monday to Friday, only authorised vehicles displaying valid UWI vehicle permits are allowed to enter the campus via the North and South gates.

Vehicles without valid permits will be directed to the visitor’s entrance at the Daaga Gate accessible along St. Augustine Circular Road (east of the campus, obliquely opposite the Milner Hall).

UWI clears air on changes to entry requirements

The University of the West Indies (UWI) is seeking to clarify a report that claimed that UWI was lowering it entry level requirements at the Faculty of Social Sciences as a result of changes to the GATE programme.

UWI says GATE is not responsible for the changes and that degree programmes are not included.
