Photos released by the Police Service of the weapons and ammunition taken at the rescue of Maria Dass from kidnappers last night.
Nine Venezuelan nationals were arrested and two revolvers, a pistol and a quantity of assorted ammunition seized, by officers of the South Western Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the district, yesterday.
Police said in a statement that the exercise, coordinated by Supt. Robert Phillip and including officers of the Penal CID, was conducted around 2:15pm, on Thursday 22nd February, 2018, during which the officers proceeded to a house located at St. James Crescent, La Romaine.
A retired police officer is among two men expected to appear before a Couva Magistrate today to answer charges of being in possession of arms, ammunition and a quantity of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
On Monday, a police exercise conducted in the Couva area resulted in the seizure of two firearms, a quantity of marijuana and cocaine at a house.
A sub-machine gun and a quantity of ammunition were found by officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force during an anti-crime exercise in Morvant last night.

Officers acting on information, proceeded to Alexis Street where they observed a man holding an object resembling a firearm.
Police have arrested 80 people and have seized several weapons during Jouvert celebrations at locations across the country earlier today.
The arrests came during anti-crime exercises carried out by police.
Of the 80 persons held by police during anti-crime exercises executed under the TTPS Carnival Security Plan, 22 were in the Eastern Division;19 in the Northern Division; 10 in the Port of Spain Division and seven in the Central Division. 18 persons were held on outstanding warrants for offences including arms and ammunition and escaping lawful custody.
Police have held two former special-ops soldiers with several firearms, ammunition and spare number plates in a bust along the Uriah Butler Highway this morning.
The bust was made the Highway Patrol Unit.
According to reports, around 6.40 am, the officers intercepted a Nissan SUV which was proceeding along the North Bound Lane of the highway in the vicinity of the Munroe Road flyover.
The officers ordered the two occupants of the vehicle to exit and a search ensued.
Police have seized 1700 rounds of ammunition as well as weapons, in several operations on Monday.
Police also arrested an 18-year-old man and 17-year-old woman for sexual offences.

Around 7:00pm on Monday 15th August 2016, PC Sookram, PC Crawford along with a party of officers attached to the Southern Division Rapid Response Unit acted upon information received and proceeded to an abandoned lot along St.
Police have seized a high-powered rifle and a quantity of high grade marijuana during an exercise in Maracas Bay and Las Cuevas.
Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force conducted an exercise on the North Coast Road, Maracas Bay and Las Cuevas areas.
They searched several houses and surrounding areas and found a .38 special revolver, two live rounds of ammunition and a quantity of marijuana.
