A 17-year-old boy has been granted $25,000 bail with surety by a Justice of the Peace, after being charged with cultivating marijuana, following an anti-crime exercise in the Rio Claro District.
The exercise, supervised by Sgt. (Ag.) Navin Maharaj, took place between 7:30 am and 10:3 0am on Thursday and included officers of the Eastern Division Task Force, Rio Claro Police Station and Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit.
Marijuana trees with an estimated street value of $8.68Mn were destroyed by officers of the Northern Division Task Force, during an anti-crime exercise in the Maracas/St. Joseph district yesterday.
The exercise, spearheaded by ACP (Ag.) McDonald Jacob and Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Michael Daniel, was carried out under the supervision of ASP (Ag.) Leon Haynes, and included officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit and the Air Support Unit between 6:30 am and 2 pm on Tuesday 27th March, 2018.
A pistol and quantities of ammunition and marijuana were discovered by officers of the La Horquetta Police, during an anticrime exercise, conducted in the La Horquetta district this morning, police said in a statement.
Officers conducted the exercise around 6:20 am during which they proceeded to Marjorie Padmore Street, Phase 2, La Horquetta, where they conducted a search of a bushy area.
The search resulted in a pistol, two rounds of .38mm ammunition and 350 grammes of marijuana being discovered in a plastic bag.
The drug has an estimated street value of $3,500.
Officers of the Southern Division Task Force have destroyed marijuana trees and cured marijuana with an estimated street value of $900,000, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Moruga district, yesterday.
The exercise, coordinated by Snr. Supt. (Ag.) Zamsheed Mohammed, supervised by Sgt. Deodath Seepersad and including officers of the Organised Crime and Intelligence Unit, the Moruga Police Station and personnel from the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Force, was conducted between 11 am and 4 pm on Sunday.
Fully grown marijuana trees with an estimated street value of $150,000, were uprooted and destroyed during an anti-crime exercise, conducted by officers of the Gasparillo Police Station in the Williamsville district, over the weekend.
The exercise, spearheaded by Insp. Subhas Ramkhelawan, supervised by Sgt. Rennie Maraj and including W/Cpl Natasha Charles, was conducted between 10:00am and 4:00pm, on Saturday 11th March, 2018.
A Penal resident who claimed he smoked marijuana to ease the pain from a gunshot injury to his head was fined $1,000 yesterday.

A 25-year-old Princes Town man, is expected to appear before a Princes Town Magistrate today, charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition, following a marijuana eradication exercise in Moruga.
Officers of the San Fernando Task Force and Organised Crime Narcotics and Firearms Bureau, conducted the exercise between 7:00am and 3:00pm on Tuesday 25th April, 2017, at Saunders Trace, Moruga.
There, officers discovered and destroyed two thousand fully grown marijuana trees and 500 seedlings, on approximately five lots of land.
