Twelve people were arrested after police found 10 men and two women gathered inside a premises allegedly consuming alcohol in Carapichaima. The following is a press release from the TTPS:
Twelve persons were arrested for breaching the Emergency Powers Regulations, during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Central Division yesterday afternoon. Officers were on mobile patrol around 1 pm, on Monday 4th October, 2021, when on reaching Jerry Junction, Carapichaima, they observed several vehicles parked along the roadway. Upon investigating, the officers observed 10 men and two women gathered inside a premises allegedly consuming alcohol.
The officers also observed a part of the premises was outfitted like a bar and recreation area, with tables, chairs, a countertop, a cash register, a point of sale machine, a quantity of cigarettes and three chillers containing approximately 30 cases of assorted beer and other alcoholic drinks. The owner of the premises, a 36-year-old man of the same address, was arrested along with the other persons found on the compound. Investigations are ongoing.
