The Police Service believes it has made “significant inroads into a cross-border drug trafficking operation” with the arrest of two men and the seizure of a quantity of narcotics allegedly imported from Venezuela, during an operation involving officers of the Port-of-Spain Gang and Intelligence Unit, on Thursday.

According to a statement from the Police Service, police received information about an impending drug transaction, which led them to a house located at 10th Street, Beetham Gardens, on Thursday 24th February 2022.  Addition intelligence received indicated that a nearby house was being used to distribute illegal narcotics.

The TTPS says search warrants were executed at the two residences and a Nissan Wingroad vehicle, which was parked in front of one of the residences, also was searched.

Police found and seized four packets containing marijuana, which weighed approximately 2.17 kilogrammes.  The TTPS says the find has a street value of $195,066.

They also arrested two men of Chinapoo Road, Morvant.

The operation was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Neil Brandon-John and supervised by ASP Walker.

Investigations are ongoing.
