2 Mayaro men charged with relative’s murder

Two 29-year-old Mayaro men are expected to appear before a Mayaro Magistrate, today, charged with the murder of their relative, Naresh Suckram, which occurred on Sunday 4th April 2021.

Two 29-year-old Mayaro men are expected to appear before a Mayaro Magistrate, today, charged with the murder of their relative, Naresh Suckram, which occurred on Sunday 4th April 2021.

The Police Service confirms that DHANRAJ SEUKUMAR and DINESH RAMPERSAD, both of Isthmus Road, Point Galeota, Mayaro, were charged with the offence following advice received from Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, Joan Honore-Paul, on Friday 9th April, 2021.

According to official police reports, 18-year-old crab vendor, Naresh Suckram (also known as ‘Rajesh’), was close to his home in Point Galeota on Sunday 4th April 2021, when he got into an altercation with two male relatives, one of whom was armed with a cutlass.

During the incident, Suckram was injured on the neck and shoulder. He died at the scene.

The two suspects were arrested shortly after the incident by officers of the Mayaro Police Station.

Investigations were supervised by ASP Douglas of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations (HBI) Region 2, and the accused were charged by PC Rambhajan, also of the HBI Region 2, on Saturday 10th April 2021.

They are scheduled to go before the Mayaro Magistrates Court.
