20-year-old held with firearm and ammunition

A 20-year-old was held by police with a homemade shot gun and seven rounds of ammunition on cultivated lands, yesterday.

Police reports are that at about 5 pm, officers were on mobile patrol in the Toco district, when they received information that  a man armed with shotgun was seen on the lands of a Mr Baldeosingh.

The police responded and went to Salibay Trace off Galera Road, Toco, where they saw the man on the cultivated lands of Mr Baldeosingh. The suspect had in his possession a homemade shot gun and seven rounds of 16-gauge cartridges.

The 20-year-old—of Anglais Road, Cumana—was found not to be the holder of a firearm licence or certificate.

He was arrested, and the gun and ammunition seized by police and taken to the Toco Police Station.

The police officers who responded to the call included; Sgt Callender and Cpl Babwah of the Toco Police Station.

Corporal Babwah is continuing with enquiries.
