2,000 CEPEP workers to get second dose of Sinopharm vaccine this weekend

Approximately 2000 CEPEP workers are expected to receive their second dose of the Sinopharm vaccine this weekend. The CEPEP company was allocated vaccines by the Ministry of Health. The following is a press release from CEPEP:

Workers of the CEPEP Company Limited are set to receive the second dose of the Sinopharm vaccine, over this weekend. The second phase commences today, three weeks after the vaccination programme was initiated on June 12th 2021 at the Paddock, Queen’s Park Savannah, Port of Spain.

The CEPEP Company has been allocated vaccines from the Ministry of Health courtesy the assistance of Minister of Rural Development and Local Government, Senator the Honourable Kazim Hosein and the Minister of Health, the Honourable Terrence Deyalsingh.

Approximately two thousand (2000) workers will receive the second dose of the Sinopharm vaccine this weekend at the Paddock in the Queen’s Park Savannah, the UTT Campus at Monroe Road in Charlieville, the Southern Academy for Performing Arts (SAPA) and the Sangre Grande Health Centre.

Minister Hosein reinforced the Government of Trinidad and Tobago’s commitment to vaccinating the population saying, “The Government is working assiduously to fight this pandemic and we must all do our part to follow the guidelines being implemented by the authorities. I am very pleased with the turnout at the various sites and the reception from the CEPEP workers.”

Chief Executive Officer of the CEPEP Company, Mr. Keith Eddy, praised the efforts of all the health officials responsible for managing the vaccination programme as well as the Company’s staff, contractors and their workers for recognising the benefits of the vaccination programme and coming forward to take the vaccine by saying, “Our aim is to protect our staff, contractors and field workers. We thank them for participating in this programme and we thank the Government and by extension, all the regional health authorities (RHA’s) for facilitating us.”

Mr. Eddy further reminded citizens to continue to protect themselves and their loved ones from the COVID-19 virus by following the 3W’s – wear your masks, wash your hands and watch your distance. It is the only way to fight this pandemic in order to return to a sense of normalcy.
