The Ministry of Finance has sent 2000 dollars for each Trinidad and Tobago national studying at the University of the West Indies campuses.
The announcement was made by Communications Minister Donna Cox at the COVID-19 news conference this morning.
She said on Monday the Ministry of Finance wired the grants to the UWI campus bursars in Jamaica and Barbados valued at 300 US dollars.
She said the money is for food supplies for each of the 184 Trinidad and Tobago UWI students in those countries who are not on scholarships.
“The campus bursars are in the process of contacting each student so that the money can be wired directly to their bank accounts,” she said.
The Minister added that similar arrangements are being made for Trinidad and Tobago nationals studying in Cuba.
She said all national scholarship winners studying abroad in Jamaica, Barbados, and elsewhere in the world have already received their personal maintenance allowances up to May and June.\
