The latest COVID-19 update from the Ministry of Health is reporting that 24 additional persons have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the current number of active cases to 851.
However, the Minister states that these 24 cases represent results of samples dating from August 20th to the present.
The Ministry also has recorded another death, noting that the patient who succumbed to COVID 19 was an elderly male with pre-existing medical conditions. His passing brings to 15 persons, the total number of deaths from COVID-19, nationally.

Port-of-Spain, August 24th 2020: As part of the national drive to safeguard the health of the Trinidad and Tobago population in the face of the global COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Health continues to provide up-to-date information on the country’s status in this regard.

The Ministry of Health provides the following clinical update as of the morning of Monday 24th August, 2020:

The twenty-four (24) positive cases reported below show results from samples taken during the period August 20th to present. Therefore, this figure is NOT representative of the positive cases over the last 24 hours only.
The Ministry of Health provides the following update:
· Twenty-four (24) additional persons have tested positive for COVID-19.
o Eighteen (18) persons tested positive at private labs
All established protocols have been implemented.
The Ministry of Health regrets to inform the public that there is an additional COVID-19 related death. The person is an elderly male with pre-existing medical conditions. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 15.

Two hundred and eighty-five (285) patients are en route/ being admitted to hospital.
Sixty-eight (68) new patients will be processed for admission.

Intensive Care Units (ICUs) are hospital wards that provide treatment for people who are very ill. They are staffed with health care professionals who are trained in ICU treatment and the use of sophisticated monitoring equipment.
High Dependency Units (HDUs) are wards for people who need more observation, treatment and nursing care than is possible in a general ward but slightly less than that given in an Intensive Care Unit.
An Ambulatory Patient is able to walk about and is not bedridden.
