$25,000 bail for attempted larceny

A 24-year-old Freeport man is scheduled to appear at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on 13th December 2021, after being granted $25,000 bail by a Justice of the Peace for attempted larceny.

The accused, ANTHONY RAMGOBIN of Nelson Street, Freeport, was charged by Chaguanas police on October 24th, 2021.

Police reports indicate that a 39-year-old woman from Felicity reported that on October 20th, she allegedly received a phone call from someone who identified themselves as the Mayor of Chaguanas. The male caller allegedly indicated that he could secure a house from the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) with a down payment of $16,000. However, the victim told the caller that she only had $2,500 at the time.

Arrangements allegedly were made for the victim to meet the caller at the Chaguanas market to collect the funds.

The police were notified, and Cpls Phillip and Augustus of the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and other police officers went to the market with the woman. While there, a man allegedly approached the woman to collect the funds and he was immediately arrested.
