Three people—two men and a woman—are to appear in a virtual hearing before the Port-of-Spain Magistrates’ Court today, Monday November 8th, to face narcotics possession charges, following a $4.9 million cocaine bust on Saturday.
The three were charged on November 6th, by officers of the Four Roads Police Station for possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
The three suspects are: SHANIA ANDREWS, 20; NIGEL BABWAH, 24; and BERNARD SQUIRES, 57.
Official police reports state that during the wee hours of November 6th, police officers attached to the Western, Port-of-Spain and Central Divisions conducted a coordinated exercise in Central Division. During the exercise, officers received intelligence which led them to a house in Couva.
Upon arrival at the location, the officers searched the premises, where they allegedly discovered 3.531 kilogrammes of cocaine, with an estimated street value of $4,921,652.
The three persons are the residence were arrested immediately, while the narcotics were seized and handed over to crime scene investigators for processing.
The three suspects will appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate, today.
