54 traffic tickets issued by Municipal Cops within four hours

During several road traffic exercises conducted in the Port of Spain (POS), Arima, San Fernando, Point Fortin and Penal/Debe districts. Officers of the Northern and Southern Divisions of the Trinidad and Tobago Municipal Police Service (TTMPS) issued 54 traffic tickets for various traffic related violations. 

Officers of the Northern and Southern Divisions of the Trinidad and Tobago Municipal Police Service (TTMPS) issued 54 traffic tickets for various traffic related violations, during several road traffic exercises conducted yesterday, Tuesday 12th October, 2021. 

The exercises were conducted between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm. The violations are as follows: 

1. Exceeding the Specified Speed Limit – 19 

2. Breach of Traffic Signs – 12 

3. Failure of a Driver and Any Passenger Seventeen Years and Over to Wear a Seatbelt Whilst Vehicle is in Motion – 7 

4. Using or Altering a Motor Vehicle or Trailer for A Purpose Not Authorised by The Registration or Licensing Authority – 3 

5. Using or Permitting a Person to Use a Motor Vehicle or Licensed Trailer On a Public Road Without a Valid Certificate of Insurance – 3 

6. Parking On a Public Stand Appointed for A Taxi – 3 

7. Driving While Holding or Using a Handheld Mobile Device – 2 

8. Failing to Place a Child Who Is Five Years and Under in a Child Restraint or Booster Seat in The Vehicle While Driving the Vehicle-1 

9. Failing to Draw Up Vehicle for Passage of Any Engine or Other Apparatus of the Fire Service, Police Vehicle, Defence Force Vehicle or Ambulance – 1 

10.Drive Vehicle Without Horn – 1 

11.Parking Within Nine (9) Meters of a Corner – 1 

12.Defaced or Defective Identification Plates – 1 

The exercises were conducted in the Port of Spain (POS), Arima, San Fernando, Point Fortin and Penal/Debe districts. 

They were spearheaded by Supt. Charles and W/Supt. Prieto, supervised by Insp. Hinkson, Sgt. Henderson, Sgt. Joseph, Sgt. Collinwood and PC Harripersad and included officers attached to the TTMPS Motorcycle Unit, and the POS and Arima Street Patrol Units and the Southern Division.
