$.5m bail for guard on gun, ammo charge

A 29-year-old Security Officer of Mason Hall, Tobago was arrested and charged for the possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Ade Thomas, of Cocowatty Trace, Mason Hall, appeared in the Scarborough Magistrates Court before Magistrate Indrani Cedeno to answer the charge.

Thomas was arrested on April 3, after members of the Tobago Task Force and Defence Force responded to a report of shooting at Kurt Eastman’s home, which is situated at the corner of Belmont Road and Spence Trace.

Eastman told police that around 10 pm on that same date, he heard several loud gunshots and on checking he observed bullet holes in his house and motor vehicle.

On arrival, the officers carried out a search of the area and found one Taurus revolver, five rounds of ammunition and eight spent shells near the house. Four men from the area was arrested but only Thomas was charged with the offence.

Thomas was granted bail in the sum of $500,000 clerk of the peace approval. He is scheduled to reappear on May 6, 2020.
