The country faced another bloody day yesterday, with a triple murder in Rancho Quemado, a double murder in Arima and a murder in Embacadere.

A schoolgirl was also stabbed in Belmont and late yesterday evening homicide officers were called out to a stabbing incident in Laventille.

Triple murder—

Rancho Quemado

Police were on the scene of the fatal triple shooting in Rancho Quemado late yesterday where three people were shot dead.

Up to press time, a fourth person was being treated for gunshot wounds at the Siparia District Health Facility.

His condition was reported as critical.

Erin police said they got a report of a shooting outside a house near the Rancho Quemado Government Primary School around 6 pm. When officers responded, they found three men lifeless in a car and one man lying on the ground.

Investigators were trying to verify the victims’ identities and were taking statements in an effort to determine what happened.

Double murder—Arima

Northern Division Police launched a man hunt for the killers of two men who were shot dead outside Rambaran’s Bar on Tumpuna Road in Arima around 2.10 am.

Two armed men opened fire on two La Horquetta men killing them on the spot and injuring two others, including a Venezuelan national.

The murdered men were identified as Rondell Samuel, 20, of 322 Phase 1 La Horquetta and Rahim Mitchell, 24 of Sunny Ramadin Phase 1, La Horquetta.

The injured who were identified as Mercedes Diaz, 29, of Venezuela who was shot on her right finger and Shaquille Infill, 26 of Phase 7, La Horquetta, who was shot on his left shoulder.

They were taken to the Arima Health Facility where they were treated before being transferred to EWMSC, Mt Hope Hospital.

The shooters ran away from the scene towards the highway before escaping in a waiting vehicle.

Murder—Embacadere

Residents of Embacadere believe they know who murdered their neighbour Marlon “Triple” La Guerre yesterday morning. However, investigators said information from witnesses has been slow in coming. When Guardian Media visited the housing development in San Fernando, the suspected killer’s name was being mentioned, but the residents would not say why La Guerre was shot dead.A report stated that around 8 am, La Guerre’s son, Isaiah Mason, 19, was standing about 50 feet away from their home when he heard the gunshots. He ran home and saw La Guerre, 49, bleeding in the porch. La Guerre was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where he died.ASP Andrew John led Southern Division Task Force, Crime Scene Unit, San Fernando CID to the scene along Circle Drive Extension. Officers searched the perimeter for the killer but were unsuccessful. Sgt Randy Ramjag and detectives from the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region Three also responded and interviewed residents.Investigators were told that a masked gunman dressed in dark-coloured clothes emerged from a track between Circle Drive and the seafront in Embacadere. He opened fire on the La Guerre, even killing his mastiff. A witness said La Guerre had just returned home from taking his children to school. She said she was working in the area and heard the shots. By the time she and others reached the area, the killer was gone. However, she believed the person was a stranger.While a clear motive has not been determined, investigators said he has been held for drugs and robbery offences in the past. Therefore, they will be looking into his recent activities.

Schoolgirl stabbed

Meanwhile, a 16-year-old schoolgirl was stabbed yesterday afternoon shortly after she left the compound of Providence Girls’ College. Police said at about 3 pm the teenager was standing at the corner of Belle Eau Road and Belmont Circular Road when she was attacked by two female students from another school. She was stabbed three times with a compass, an instrument from a geometry set. The schoolgirl was taken to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where she is warded in serious but stable condition.

Up until late last night police were at the scene of a stabbing incident on Robinson Lane in Laventille but officers were unable to give information on the incident up until press time.

Yesterday’s killings follows the murders of seven people on Sunday, including that of a 61-year-old grandmother and a US citizen.

Up to last night, the murder count stood at 67.
