Despite the confirmation of 12 new COVID-19 infections, active cases continued to decrease, though slightly, now sitting at 411.

The Ministry of Health’s update yesterday said the new infections came from samples collected between December 19 to 21.

However, of these cases, three were from recently repatriated nationals and two were from Tobago. These new infections brought the number of infections to be recorded locally since March 12 up to 7,024.

The number of people to recover from the virus also increased to 6,488 after 17 people were released from the ministry’s care; three people were discharged from public health facilities while 14 people were released from home self-isolation as recovered community cases.

There were 24 people in hospitals, 39 in step-down/transitional facilities, 476 in state quarantine facilities and 336 people in home self-isolation.

Of those listed as being in home self-isolation, 37 are in the care of the prison system.

Deaths remain at 125.
