Active COVID cases inching closer to 2,000 with 78 new cases confirmed

Another group of COVID-19 positive tests results has the national total for active cases inching closer to the 2,000 mark, as the Ministry of Health announces 78 new cases in its latest update.

According to the Ministry’s report for today, Friday 18 September 2020, seventy-eight (78) additional persons have tested positive for COVID -19, but these are the results from samples taken during the period September 4th to September 17th, 2020, and not reflective of the positive cases over the last 24 hours only.

These latest results bring the total number of active cases nationally to 1,866.

The Ministry also confirmed that the 78 new patients will be processed for admission at the discretion of the CMOHs.

In other highlights…

●  Eight (8) persons have been discharged from public health facilities

●  764 patients who were community cases have recovered from the coronavirus.  Recovered community cases refer to persons who were previously COVID-19 positive and in self-isolation at home and subsequently met the discharge criteria and were released from self-isolation.

●  78 COVID-19 positive patients are still in hospital.

●  131 COVID-19 positive patients are still in step-down/transition facilities.
