Arouca man arrested after attempted robbery

An Arouca man is today in police custody after attempting to rob a 33-year-old man.
According to police reports, around 2 pm yesterday, the victim was offloading groceries in the car park of West Bees Supermarket, when he was approached by two men.

One of the suspects held him from behind, placed a long black L shaped object to his neck and instructed him to “give me that chain boy”.

A struggled then ensued, allowing the victim to escape. The suspects ran off in a northerly direction, where one of the suspects pointed the object at the victim and two loud explosions were heard.

The victim reported the matter to the Arouca Police station, where PC Kerr of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) conducted enquiries.

The scene was process by PC Weekes and WPC Boyce of the Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) Unit and two spent nine millimetre shells were recovered.

The investigation led the officers to Seecharan Street, Arouca, where they arrested one of the suspects. Enquiries are ongoing.
