Efforts to rescue a bottlenose dolphin at Maracas Bay

Vets from the University of the West Indies are trying desperately trying to save a bottlenose dolphin that beached itself on Maracas Bay this morning.

Beachgoers say the dolphin was first seen shortly before 10 am.

Lifeguards on the beach towed it back into the sea and stayed for over two hours before further help arrived.

Shortly after noon, the dolphin was brought to shore.

Rescuers have cordoned off a part of the shoreline as they work feverishly to save the dolphin.

Earlier this week four whales were found in Moruga.
