A 42-year-old Tobago man, who was charged with sexually penetrating a 14-year-old girl, was granted $70,000 bail with a surety, after appearing virtually before a Scarborough Magistrate, last Tuesday.
The accused is expected to reappear before the court on November 30th, 2021.
An official statement from the Police Service confirms he was charged on November 1st by WPC Dumas of the Tobago Division Child Protection Unit (CPU).
According to police reports, on April 15th, 2021, a girl was at the home of a man where it is alleged that the child was made to have sexual intercourse with him.
The incident was reported to police in June 2021.
CPU detectives subsequently launched an investigation into the report following which a 42-year-old suspect was arrested and later charged with one count of sexual penetration of a child.
The enquiry was headed by W/Superintendent of Police (Ag.) Claire Guy-Alleyne and supervised by Sgt Miller of the Tobago Division CPU.
