A 27-year-old baker has been jailed on gun charges

A police release said Yeaseal Fields, of Boss Lane, Enterprise, was arrested on Saturday and subsequently charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

He appeared virtually at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Adrian Darmanie yesterday.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 32 months’ with hard labour for possession of a firearm and two years’ hard labour for possession of ammunition.

Both sentences are to run concurrently.

A report said around 3 pm while conducting a search at Isles Trace, Enterprise, police saw a man throw a black plastic bag into some nearby bushes.

The man was held a short distance away after attempting to flee from the officers.

The officers searched the bushes and found the black bag.

It contained a Smith and Wesson .38 revolver and five rounds of ammunition.

He was arrested and later charged after enquiries were conducted by PC Ramsundar-Wilson
