The Child Protection Unit has detained two men in separate incidents who were apparently beaten after it was revealed they allegedly sexually assaulted two teenage girls ages 13 and 14 respectively.

In one of the incidents, the suspect was caught in the act of raping the teen by residents.

Police say on Monday IATF officers responded to reports of an assault at Small Street, Success, Laventille.

Officers spoke to parents of a 13-year-old girl who reported the girl was raped by a 63-year-old man family friend in June last year in their home.

It is alleged the elderly man threatened to kill the 13-year-old and her family if she reported the incident.

Police held the 63-year-old man who was found to be suffering from marks of violence and bleeding and he was taken for medical care.

And also on Monday officers of the Freeport Police Station responded to a report of a suspect detained by residents of Lion Drive, Orange Field Road, Chase Village.

When they arrived officers were told the man was allegedly caught sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

Both the alleged suspect and victim were taken to hospital, where the suspect was admitted for further treatment under police guard.
