One man was arrested and a quantity of marijuana seized by officers of the North Eastern Division during an anti-crime exercise in Blanchisseuse yesterday. Officers conducted the exercise between 7:45 am and 3:15 pm, on May 24th.
According to police reports, during the exercise officers proceeded seven kilometres into a hilly area leading to Paria Bay, where they found a male suspect with one kilogramme of marijuana in his possession. The man, a 26-year-old of Upper Village, Blanchisseuse, was arrested in connection with the find. Acting on information received, the officers went to another area in the Paria Bay district, where they discovered a marijuana field containing 100 fully grown marijuana trees and 400 seedlings. The trees and seedlings were uprooted and destroyed. Investigations are ongoing.
