A 16-year-old boy was arrested and a quantity of marijuana and cash seized by police officers during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Eastern Division on Wednesday.
The exercise was supervised by Sgt Harper and included officers of Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department, Eastern Division Task Force, and the Emergency Response Patrol.
According to the TTPS, during the exercise, a 16-year-old boy was observed by the officers to be acting in a suspicious manner.
A knapsack in his possession was checked and found to contain seven packets, each containing marijuana, with a total weight of 5.5kg.
He was arrested for the offence of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.
Officers also executed a search warrant for firearms and ammunition at a house located along Rampersad Trace, Vega De Oropouche, Sangre Grande.
During the search, $28,700 cash was found and seized by Sgt Harper pending further enquiries subject to the Proceeds of Crime Act.
