With 23 votes for, none against and six abstentions, the 2021 Budget was passed in the Senate a short while ago. It took just three days for the Upper House to debate and pass the fiscal package.
The Senate has been adjourned to a date to be fixed.
The $49.573 billion Budget for 2020/2021 presented in the House of Representatives on October 5 by Finance Minister Colm Imbert was pegged on an oil price of US$45 and a gas price of US$3.00 per MMBTU. The budget deficit is projected at $8.20 billion.
