Fire officers who responded to a vehicular fire at Bangladesh in St Joseph on Monday night made a gruesome discovery upon extinguishing the flames.
A body was burnt beyond recognition in the car.
According to a police report, around 10:30 pm, a team of police officers went to Farm Road Extension, St Joseph in the vicinity of the WASA pump relative to a report of a vehicle on fire.
Upon their arrival, they reported seeing a vehicle engulfed in flames.
Fire officers extinguished the blaze and while making checks, found charred human remains in the back seat of the vehicle.
The scene was visited by the District Medical Officer who made her pronouncements and gave instructions that the burnt body be removed to the Forensic Science Centre for an autopsy.
