Public Utilities Minister Robert Le Hunte has resigned.
Minister of Communications Donna Cox confirmed that Le Hunte tendered his resignation on Sunday and that it was accepted by Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley.
Cox, in a brief telephone interview, said she could not say why Le Hunte resigned but Guardian Media understands there was a clash over the recommendations made by the COVID-19 Roadmap Recovery Committee, which Le Hunte was a part of.
Guardian Media was told that Le Hunte was not pleased with the way some of the report’s recommendations were handled.
Le Hunte and businessman Gerry Brooks stand as deputy chairs to the Recovery Committee and Rowley sits as the committee’s chairman.
It is also understood that Le Hunte was not too happy about how the Prime Minister has handled the gas Paria Trading Company sale to Aruba that may have exposed the country to US sanctions.
Le Hunte did not respond to texts or calls on the matter.
